The Mystical Heart of Yoga - Universal Love and Compassion Across Traditions

Welcome to "The Mystical Heart of Yoga - Universal Love and Compassion Across Traditions", an
experiential discussion designed to illuminate the profound connection between mystical traditions and
the essence of yoga. This session is a poetic transcendental journey through the intertwined paths of
ancient yoga and the mystical wisdom of diverse spiritual traditions, all while nurturing the profound
qualities of love and compassion within the heart of each participant.

As the petals of understanding unfold, we will weave together the vibrant threads of mystical practices
from around the world, showcasing how the heart of yoga is deeply entwined with the universal pursuit
of love and transcendental wholeness.

We will delve into the esoteric teachings of Sufism, where the dance of the whirling dervishes
exemplifies the soul's ecstatic union with the divine; explore the Bhakti tradition of India, with its
devotional songs echoing the heart's eternal yearning for spiritual connection; and touch upon the
compassionate teachings of Early Christian mystics like Saint Francis of Assisi, who saw the divine sparkle
in all of creation. From the practice of metta or loving-kindness meditation in the Buddhist tradition to
the deep, heart-opening postures in Hatha Yoga, participants will gain insights into how these practices
help dissolve the illusion of separation, fostering a sense of unity with the divine and all of creation.

Participants will be invited to engage in brief, meditative journey, allowing them to personally
experience the soothing balm of universal love and compassion.

Ideal for anyone seeking to deepen their yoga practice through the power of love, or for those wishing
to expand their understanding of spiritual interconnectedness, this class will cultivate a sense of
profound connection and universal love. This discussion promises to be not just an educational
experience, but a profound invitation into the soul of mysticism, where every breath and moment is an
embrace of the divine.

Empowered Heart: A Journey from Suffering to Compassion & Healing

The Empowered Heart is a methodology, language, and toolset designed to assist
people through the process of healing emotional pain and living in a more present,
conscious, and empowered state. All are welcome here.
By looking at our wounds and giving ourselves permission to feel the deeper feelings
beneath the exterior shell of ego and protection, we can better understand where the
pain is coming from and what we need to feel better.

As we obtain the ability to more clearly understand our needs, we’re then able to break
the cycle of suffering by consciously being with our wounds (instead of avoiding them),
understanding our pain, and taking continual action to get our needs met.

Join us as we release shame, experience connection and empower our hearts
through a heartfelt talk, mindful movement, and a guided yoga nidra session.

Malas, Mantras & Meditation – From Sound to Silence

Malas have served as a tool throughout history to count our mantras so we can learn to start to quiet our minds.

Join us in this class as we learn the ancient history of Malas and how to use them for a Japa Meditation practice. Japa Meditation consists of chanting a Divine word or phrase repetitively. Those who practice know it as the best purifier of thought, word and deed in this Kali Yuga. It is widely known that meditation rewires the brain in deeply beneficial ways. It is less widely known that repeating sacred mantra does the same in even less time. The better the practice the faster the transformation. Join us as we explore the relationship between mind, thought, mantra, and happiness.

This workshop focuses primarily on practice, with discussion of the science of sound through our program.

The Power of the Heart ~ Hridaya Shakti: Healing Yoga, Meditation and Chanting for Transforming Times

We are living in a time of great awakening and transformation both individually and collectively. The Human heart holds the keys to our transformation at both a personal and planetary level.

Ancient spiritual traditions, artists, poets, musicians, modern science, medicine & meta-physics have all been fascinated by the human heart and how to tap into it’s profound energy and power. Perhaps no space of consciousness has held as much fascination and exploration as the heart, yet we are all still learning how to tap into the power of the heart in daily life. In the Yoga tradition, the Hridaya is our spiritual heart and is the seat of our spiritual essence, our vital force and our deepest drive. It exists on different levels of being; physical, emotional and spiritual and is also the key to our health, energy and inner peace. The next level of our evolution is connected to the awakening and integration of H E A R T Consciouness.

This master class will include a short dharma talk, dynamic practice of soul centered yoga, meditation, chanting and live music and special practices for strengthening, healing and awakening the power of the heart. Awakening the Power of the Heart is a practice. All levels are welcome.

Bolly-Fusion: A Blend of Indian and other Dance Styles

What is Bolly-Fusion Dance?
The Hindi-language film industry based in Mumbai, India is the root of Bollywood dance, which is a blend of all Indian dance styles, in addition to forms of dance from around the world. These various dance styles could be traditional or classical, and they could include more modern forms of dances. Bolly-Fusion is Ranjani's interpretation and synthesis of dance moves and choreography that is influenced by the plethora of ideas from around the world.

What to Expect:
In a Bolly-Fusion dance workshop, we start and end with a salutation to the vibrations and foundations that merge to create the floor, music and atmosphere in which we move with focused attention. A brief warm-up follows, after which dancers typically start in a formation like diagonal or straight lines to learn and repeat sequences of movements, and then move into choreographed formations. The dances are fast-paced and involve the constant movement of feet and hands, as well as the hips and head. Drills are incorporated to solidify movements and sequences, and class ends with a cool-down. The selection of music is usually a popular modern Bollywood song, an American hit, or a blend of both. By the end of the workshop, dancers will have mastered a choreographed Bolly-Fusion dance sequence.

Mindful Steps: Exploring the Practice of Walking Meditation

What would it be like to walk with no particular destination in mind? Join Jere to learn about, experience, and discuss walking meditation.

A walking meditation is the practice of walking with awareness and mindfulness, paying attention to each step and the sensations in the body along the way. The goal is not to reach a particular destination, but to be fully present along the way. This helps us to cultivate mindfulness, reduce stress and anxiety, and promote a sense of calm and relaxation. Walking meditation can be a great complement to sitting meditation, and often is enjoyed by people who find sitting meditation to be challenging. It’s also a great way to incorporate mindfulness into your daily life, as you can practice walking meditation while doing your daily activities or out for your daily walk.

NOTE: this venue is outside, be sure to bring sun protection, sunglasses, walking shoes, water, etc.

Yoga Nidra: Deep Somatic Meditations

Yoga nidra meditation is a well-researched meditative relaxation initially developed by the
Bihar School of Yoga in India and now rapidly spreading across the West --as part of both
yoga wellness and veterans’ PTSD treatment. It incorporates guided relaxation with an
empowering intention, visualizations, breath awareness, counting backwards, chakra
sensitization, etc.,. Yoga nidra is known to promote deep relaxation in the alpha-theta brain
wave states, decrease stress, and also increase calmness, equipoise and cognition. In
advanced yoga nidra, sacred chakra sounds (bija mantras) and sacred geometry (yantra)
visualizations of the chakras are also interwoven with moving imagery of light and breath.
Examples from brain-meditation research will be shared, along with tips for practice and

Form & Formless: Hindu/Buddhist Deity Archetypes & Enlightenment

Enlightenment (in the Vedanta tradition) is the journey of Knowing the Self, abiding in the Self and seeing the same Self in others with love and compassion. Manoj will guide you through the 3 practices of non dualistic Advaita Vedanta philosophy:  Shravanam (listening), Mananam (contemplation) and Nidhidhyasana (abiding in the Self).

The question then arises, what role do these deities such as Ganesh, Shiva, Lakshmi, Buddha,Tara play in this journey?. Manoj will bring in statues of these deities and relate their symbolisms to our journey to enlightenment. Through humorous archetypical story telling, discover your Isthadevata (personal archetype), uncover their secret symbolisms and learn the five ways to work with them as part of a practice towards spiritual awakening.

(This workshop is 80% lecture, 10% meditation, 5% Mantras and 5% light spiritual stretches.)

Arise & Awake! Bliss is Who You Are!

Classical Yoga in the Modern Age
Who wants to be Happy? Who wants to be Loved? It is amazing that in this hectic and constantly changing modern time each of us still seek exactly what we have always sought. Love. Peace. Joy. These are real, though we learn that they are not where we think that they are. Yoga shows the way. This workshop is for all ages and all levels.

We will explore through discussion and practice the pre-ancient Yoga and Vedanta as these relate to this modern life and see together how it can enliven and awaken us. How we, together with the aid of the sages of Yoga and the Universal, through our own practice, can find and live in the fullness that we seek. We’ll discuss the human experience – the universal nature of it in addition to all of our apparent differences. What is it? Why do we suffer? Is there a way to end suffering, and what is the way? We’ll bring in to our discussion wisdom from the Raja Yoga Sutras (Patanjali or Ashtanga Yoga) and the Bhagavad Gita, along with some of the Upanishadic sharing. And we will, through our discussion and select together, see how it works, how it fits together with our lives. Finally we’ll explore keys to successful and continuous practice while we live our lives.
